Walk and talk

In a nutshell

One-to-one coaching for the busy business executive to arm you with new tools and techniques to improve your effectiveness and performance at work in the new normal. The coaching is done outside, walking and talking. You get a break from your screen as well as some exercise. Step outside yourself outside.

Why walk and talk?

It means a proper break from your desk and screen. People are more open and creative while walking. The rhythmic action of walking alters your brain waves from full-on task orientation to the slower waves that release creativity. Walking helps you to think things through and find solutions that do not occur at a desk. (Ask Dickens, Darwin or Steve Jobs). And the exercise is beneficial for your physical and mental health.

Who is it for?

Senior business executives from any industry or discipline who live or work in central London or the Scottish Borders. People who want to unlock their potential, improve their performance, be more effective. People who want to deal with the challenges of colleagues more effectively. People who find it hard to say ‘no’ and are feeling overwhelmed by their workload. People who just want a sounding board to chat through their work challenges confidentially with zero judgement.

How does it work?

The coaching is bespoke and tailored to your specific needs and challenges. This is not ‘one-size-fits all’. We come to you and we start walking somewhere locally. Sessions are typically 1 hour long and usually 6 to 8 sessions are required for the coaching to be effective. We agree upfront what you want to achieve from the coaching.

Is it like therapy?

No. This is definitely not therapy or counselling. It’s about your work life as opposed to your personal life, although work-life balance is a frequent topic. We will talk about the specifics of your role and the challenges of your business. We will dig into what you do day-to-day and the practical and emotional challenges that poses you. This is not woolly. It’s ‘crunchy’ and straight-talking. We ask the tough questions and offer direct and pragmatic advice with no judgment.

What will I get out of it?

Tools, techniques and advice to address your specific work challenges and issues. Ways to help you improve your performance as well as how to manage time, stress and colleagues more effectively.  An opportunity to step outside yourself and look at your work and your job more objectively and pragmatically. An opportunity to see the wood for the trees, tapping into our experience.
