Care sector leadership skills

‘A new report has found that 82 per cent of British workers entering management positions have not had any formal management and leadership training.’  FT – October 2023

In a nutshell

A tailored programme to train and coach leaders in the care sector at a supervisory or management level.

Why?

A key success factor in delivering high quality and compassionate care is leadership. Many supervisors and managers in the care sector are let down by their organisations who do not invest in skills. The result is poor quality care, stressed carers and huge staff turnover.

Who is it for?

All care sector leadership teams can benefit from this programme. It is particularly suited to those who are already in or moving to a supervisory role and need to learn basic leadership skills.

How does it work?

We have built a flexible programme consisting of short training modules, one-to-one coaching and team workshops. These can be delivered in bite-sized chunks to fit in around shift patterns. They are delivered onsite or online. We start with identifying success factors for the leadership team and work backwards to plan relevant modules. We start with effective communication techniques and move through team-building to objective setting, dealing with challenging situations, interviewing and many other core skills. We develop case studies based on your organisation’s real life examples, write role plays and give personal feedback to help you develop.

What will you get out of it?

Developing these leadership skills will help your leadership team build a satisfied, loyal, more productive care team delivering quality care. Evidence points to this improving staff retention and saving money.
